I like doing hard things with a team.

I grew up in Baltimore and spent ten summers at a camp in Virginia, first as a camper, then as a CIT, a counselor, and eventually head of the waterfront. I studied history and bioethics at the University of Virginia, moved to New Orleans in 2012 to teach geometry with Teach For America, and stayed.

In 2015, I helped start Live Oak Camp, which is a sleep-away camp that connects New Orleans future leaders through time at camp, on back-packing trips, and in leadership development programs throughout the year. I've been there since the beginning and now run it as COO. It's the through-line for most of the rest: several of my races have doubled as fundraisers for camp scholarships, including the Ultra Gobi, which brought in more than $10,000.

The running

I ran my first marathon in 2008, as a college freshman, and my first ultra in 2017. Then in March 2023 I entered The Speed Project Solo, an unsanctioned 293 mile run from Santa Monica to Las Vegas. It was my first attempt at anything beyond 100 miles, and I won it outright in 84 hours and 45 minutes, with a crew of nine women behind me.

Since then I've crossed the Atacama, run the Moab 240 with a ten week old at home, gone back to Los Angeles twice more, and finished the Ultra Gobi 400K in China. That one was 247 miles, self-navigated and self-supported, and it took 94 hours and change. I crossed the line holding hands with Jack Carey, who I've run a lot of miles with.

Running ultras has never really been about running or the numbers. It's about people, community, connection, and adventure.

The building

In 2025 a friend who runs a women's sports bar told me she was spending hours every week just working out where games were being broadcast. So I builtWatch Women's Sports (IRL), which puts it all in one place: games you can go to, and games you can watch at home, across every league and level. In June 2026 it won the grand prize at Idea Village's Pitch Night here in New Orleans.

The way I put it at that pitch: "I'm equally excited about writing code and building databases as I am cheering on the Tulane women's basketball team."
